THE LONG HAUL VIEW

The last time I heard of horrible things happening to innocent people,  I was wondering about how God felt…

How does He put up with all the suffering of the innocent victims…which goes on and on…How does He stand it? If I, a sinner, feel outraged…how much more so He must feel the injustice…

And then through the help of the Holy Spirit,  I figured it out…just as I am able to "carry on" and move forward all these years after my tragedy--it's the same principle! God knows that whatever injustice has befallen the innocent victims…"the story doesn't end there!" He pretty much sums it up in this Scripture verse:

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
 (Jeremiah 29-11-NIV)

"Hope and a future!"…This, coupled with

For nothing is impossible with God"

(Luke 1:37 NIV)

means one thing to me…RESTORATION is in our future, right along with REUNION! For those on this planet that have had the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time…we STILL have "a hope and a future"…And if God is pleased with this…how much more we can look forward to a "continuation" of the story…the next chapter…a brand new book perhaps…but with the same memorable characters…

I admit that it bugs me now, a little, when I hear people lamenting in utter agony, about what their deceased loved ones "Never got to do"… Don't get me wrong...I felt the same way during my own early time of bereavement. But after awhile, I reminded myself of what kind of a God I actually believe in

The God I believe in…can DO THE IMPOSSIBLE! He can RESTORE! Whatever is vitally important is not going to be absent from my beloveds! God is too much into "justice", generosity and just sheer kindness and compassion…to let anything IMPORTANT be missing in our loved one's new life

I think the key word is "important"…I had to expand my view about just what is really important…If it was merely a rite of passage on Earth…this didn't cut it. Ultimately, I concluded that WHATEVER GOD SAYS IS OK OR NOT to be present or missing from my children's newly restored lives, is OK with me! He knows best! He Who created my children will know how best to make them restored and happy! And with that conclusion I found my peace.

Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.

(1 Thess. 4:13 NIV)

And that "hope" that we have…is reunion with our loved ones and restoration of all that is broken!
We have so much to anticipate, when we finally walk that golden stairway…"Thanks be to God!"
